Figurine

I stare at the dark figure coming slowly closer towards me, as he walks into the light I gradually start to see him better, his beautiful form. I observe him, trying to take in every last mysterious detail. His plump, luscious lips, his big, broad shoulders, his long, strong fingers, his slightly spiked, messy hair, his deep chocolate brown eyes, his browned skin down to his muscular legs. The way he holds himself tells me he knows what he looks like and knows that he could get any girl he wanted. His piercing eyes gaze into mine, swallowing in all that I am. I notice he doesn’t seem to look down to me like I had expected, instead he looks at me in interest, in curiosity. He takes a step closer to me, my breath instantly catches in my throat and my heart starts to race.

Receptors

In a world full of lying, deception, hatred, cheating, gossip, kidnapping, pain, sickness, death, and disease, we as human beings stand strong together. We help, we love, we encourage, and we strive to get through our lives here. Atleast, thats how it was a hundred years ago. Today things are different. Instead, we have what we call the "Receptors." There are five receptors in every single state in the world but I'm only going to tell you about the Utah ones because Utah is and always has been my home. The Receptors are the most honored people in the entire world. They are the people who save us from the pain people once amazingly withstood. Humans used to be built stronger, with immunities and such. Things are different now. People cant handle the atrosities wich they used to. Now humans have five people for that specific job, and to them, we owe our very lives to. What life would be like without them, i shudder to think about. With the Receptors though, us as citizens live a happy peaceful life. We feel absolutely nothing. No pain, no jealousy, no sadness, no dissappointment, and we still get the privilige to feel the goods. We feel happy, relief, excitement, glory, pride, justice, beauty, and love. But at a huge sacrifice to the Receptors. In order for us to live a perfect life, they must endure constant unimaginable pain, misery, a life of only the deepest sorrow imaginable. So, as you can see the five unlucky yet honored souls must suffer for eternity in return we get to be happy. Fair? Not so much, but reasonable.... I suppose. These five souls are selected by none other than the gods themselves.
